1 John 2:5
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
As Christians, we are children of God. This means that we are holy. Holiness means separation from the world unto God. We are the sacred instruments of His work on Earth. We have the privilege of being the living temple of the living God. As such we are the ambassadors of Jesus, and the hearts through which he pours his love.
Holiness means that there are certain things we need to avoid. The Bible says “ Blessed are the pure for they shall see God”. This means that we must continue to set ourselves apart from the darkness of the world we live. The world is a place of darkness. Many of us remember the sinful lives we lived before being in Jesus, how we indulged in unholy desires. This cannot continue. All the true servants of God were holy. This means that as servants of the Light of Jesus, they were separate from the darkness. This is where Jesus draws the line in the sand. We are to examine ourselves and separate ourselves from the negative influences of this world. They may come to us but not be in us. This means that in every single aspect of our lives, we need to examine whether what we do and allow to affect us is either darkness or light. The fall is not limited to the once angel now demons. It also applies to us. Unless we stand apart from the deeds of darkness and their lie, we will fall.
God is calling you to remember that you are a holy priesthood, a chosen people, a sacred assembly called the church family. It is impossible to live without encountering darkness. But we do not have to open ourselves to darkness with open arms. The holiness of the Christian means that he will see God. That means that through every aspect of his life, in every way and encounter, he will have the manifestation of God. Some will even meet him physically. For this we need to be pure. We are the light of the world, and the darkness around us, be it through people , philosophies and dark deeds must not contaminate the purity of our hearts. Live in the world to expand the kingdom of light, and not to become a slave of darkness as we all once were.
