t is imperative that we contextualise the current crisis. Much can be learned by correctly approaching our turbulent times. The Coronavirus has spread from China through to the rest of the world, where it is impacting nations. The response to this crisis has been a worldwide lockdown. At the same time, scientists are frantically searching for a cure and even effective treatment of the deadly condition.
The whole world is gripped with fear, and all aspects of human life have been negatively affected.
Let us see this crisis from a godly point of view. To do this we go back to a prophecy made in 2018 by Joseph Prince, a well-known pastor from Singapore, who predicted the onset of this crisis. In his sermon in 2018, Mr. Prince alerted the world that satan was working on a flu-like virus to attack the world. The present corona crisis is just the fulfillment of this word. To put it simply this illness is not from God, it is from the devil. Yet God allowed it. It is too soon for us to understand the full reason for God allowing this crisis. Experience shows that even when God allows a seemingly great wrong, He is always right. The challenge has just begun. It is only when we reach the finish line that we will understand the full lesson for this season.
Even though the specifics of this crisis are yet to be made known, there are general aspects of this crisis that the world already has experienced that can steer towards the beginning of the meaning of this crisis:
The world is going through Brokenness. Brokenness is a season when our dependence on God becomes evident because of the failure of our lifestyle. Our mode of life becomes impossible to maintain and painfully so. In the absence of usual comfort, we are forced to change. In this season, we come to a standstill, a zero, a slow down that forces to review our circumstances and beyond these external factors, we perform an internal review. This review directs us to Jesus, and teaches us to reconnect with him, and surrender to a new direction in life. This has been the case for individuals as much as the case for nations and in this instance the world. Brokenness is not meant to destroy. It is the pruning of the tree that will make it more fruitful. From the ashes of the crisis, God will give beauty to those who respond correctly. It is a very painful and humbling process but necessary to save the lost. Had we not failed in our lifestyles, we would not seek God. He does not send the problem, but rather uses it to bring us back to Him. We are going through planetary brokenness, and from this, a better world can emerge if we respond correctly.
